A growing body of scholarship is becoming openly accessible, in other words, available free, immediately, and online without a paywall. Open access publications are typically accompanied by one of the Creative Commons public copyright licenses that explain how the content can be reused without permission.

Open access articles may include labels such as orange open access icon (an open access icon) and Creative Commons Attribution license icon (Creative Commons Attribution license icon) or stated in text "Open Access" and the license type on the article page.

Visit the Finding Open Access Articles page to learn about tools and strategies for locating open access content.
