Database Access to the New York Times
The database Gale Academic One file provides access to the print version of The New York Times. The digital edition of The New York Times is available through ProQuest Publication Browsing and Gale Academic One File.
To find the The New York Times in Search@UW, please follow the instructions below:
- Enter the newspaper title,the New York Times, into the main Search@UW search bar on the UWM Libraries homepage.
- Go to the "Resource Type" filter and select "Newspapers" (under Refine my Results on the left).Then click "Apply Filters."
- Use the Sign In link in the in the gold banner to log in to your library account.
- Click on the first The New York Times result.
- Click on the database link that says "Gale Academic One File available 01/01/1985"

The database link will take you to an access page for the The New York Times. Follow these steps to browse by date or to search by topic or article title.

select the year you would like to search

select the day you would like to browse

if you have the name of the article, you can type it in the search bar or keywords of the article title. If you just want to browse The New York Times, you should at least have keywords that you would like to search

Click on the "News" option, to limit results to new articles.

Use the options in the upper right of the page to email yourself a copy of the article You can either email the article to yourself or download it as a PDF file.
