Stakeholders can be people or organizations who have an interest in the issue you are researching. Stakeholders may be community organizations, government agencies, or people of a specific demographic or identity.

Sometimes they may be affected or involved directly in the issue, they may be outside witnesses or observers of the issue, or exerting influence over the issue. There are usually many stakeholders involved in any issue. Stakeholders are experts due to their first-hand experiences, and share their knowledge through sources they create.

Our library created a “Who are Stakeholders” video discussing an example of the various people who may be a stakeholder in food deserts.

If you’re not sure which local organizations might be involved in your issue, try a Google search with “Milwaukee” and your issue.

Look at the English 102 Research Guide for more information.

This FAQ is for Milwaukee campus English 102 students.
