Music scores and sheet music are available in both physical and digital formats, and can be identified using Search@UW.

Physical scores and books about music are located on the east wing of the second floor. Like the rest of the library, they are organized following the Library of Congress system. Call numbers beginning with M are for scores, ML is for books about music, and MT is for music education and theory. M1-2 includes collections and anthologies, while M3 indicates collected works by individual composers. The rest of the M section is divided by instrument or ensemble types, then by composer last name. For example, the M1000-M1075 range includes orchestral music, within that M1012-1013 includes pieces for violin with orchestra, and M1012.B26 is where you'd find Samuel Barber's violin concerto. Browsing guides are posted on the ends of shelves.

Digital scores are available through two online collections: the Music Online: Classical Scores Library and the UWM Electronic Scores Collection. Classical Scores Library is a huge database of around 50,000 scores available through the library and can be searched or browsed by category. Scores can be annotated, printed, and shared with other UWM users. The UWM Electronic Scores Collection is a new, small collection of PDF scores purchased directly from composers and music vendors. These scores can only be accessed on campus or using a campus VPN, but you are free to print the scores when you access them. Both collections are automatically included when you search the library catalog.
