Where are the award winning children's books?

The Curriculum Collection includes children’s and young adult fiction and non-fiction, PK-12 textbooks, and reference books. These materials are shelved on the 2nd floor, East wing of the Golda Meir Library.

Answer

The Curriculum Collection has a large collection of award winning titles, including recipients of the Américas, Caldecott, Newbery,Coretta Scott King, Stonewall, and Pura Belpre awards. The Reference Collection includes copies of the majority of the Caldecott, Newberry, and Américas winners, and circulating copies for most of these titles are available, too.

To view a list of the award winning titles, you can visit the Curriculum Collection Book List Guide. The Guide has pages that include complete listings of the Américas, Newbery, & Caldecott winners, and separate lists for the ones for which have reference and/or circulating copies. All of the Coretta Scott King and Pura Belpre awards winners we have are in the circulating collection. In the Curriculum Collection, the Newbery and Caldecott winners have stickers on their spine – if you're not looking for a specific title, you might just look in the shelves for them:

The circulating copies of the award-winners are dispersed throughout the main Curriculum Collection shelves. Find exact locations and call numbers by conducting a title search for the books in Search@UW. If you do not have a specific title in mind, you can search for the award name using the search box on the Curriculum Collection webpage (which will only search Curriculum Collection materials). Most book records will list the awards a title has won.

There are also some books on the Curriculum Collection Reference and general library stacks that contain lists other awards and the winners like The Newbery/Printz Companion or The Ultimate Teen Book Guide. For help finding book lists and guides, Ask a Librarian for assistance.
